Bass Chumps is a bass club based in Central Texas. We have members who are located in the Giddings Area of East of Austin. We have one club tournament each month and award an Angler of the Year based on point totals.

June Tournament Results: Lake Somerville

The Bass Chumps hit Lake Somerville on June 11th for their monthly tournament. Most of the regular members attended along with several guests. Fishing conditions were tough with blue bird skies, high winds, and temperatures soaring to 101°. Rodney "TBag" Bage took home top honors in the tournament out of the back of TxBucky's boat. Bage also claimed the Big Bass pot. Although it was his first ever tournament win, TBag left the weigh-in talking lots of smack, especially since he beat his front seater and Zdawg who made an appearance and zeroed for the tournament after a year long hiatus from the chumps.

Although the results caused a slight reshuffling of the top six standings, the AOY race appears to have come down to a three man race between, Warren Jatzlau, Jug Siegeler, and Mike Buck.

Future of the Bass Chumps

The Bass Chumps had a very successful 2008 season with over 20 total members. We are headed in a new and exciting direction for 2009. We will be participating in the TBF Texas "Top-Six" Team Tournament at the end of the season. The Bass Chumps will be competing in eight monthly tournaments to qualify for the "Top-Six", so that they can be one of the elite club members who earn the right to represent the chumps against the best anglers from the other TBF clubs in the state. TBF state dues are $15.00 a year, and TBF National dues are also $15.00 a year ( for a total of $30.00). This must be paid by the March Tournament to be eligible for the "Top-Six" TBF Tournament. In addition, TBF is sponsored by FLW and if you join FLW ($35.00) you can also be eligible to fish the FLW state qualifiying tournament with a chance to move on to the FLW Regional and National Tournaments. * FLW membership is recommended but not required to eligible for TBF "Top-Six".
