Bass Chumps is a bass club based in Central Texas. We are affiliated with the TBF Federation of the FLW. We have members who are located East of Austin in the Giddings Area. We have one club tournament each month and award an Angler of the Year based on point totals.

TBF Club State Championship - Runners-Up

The Bass Chumps traveled to Lake Granbury on November 21st & 22nd and placed second in Texas TBF Club State Championship Tournament. The tournament allowed the top six anglers from bass clubs across Texas to compete to in order to determine which club is the best in the state. Each club had three two man teams who combined their weight at the end of the three sessions.

On Saturday morning, the Chumps started off with a strong opening round anchored by the tournament big bass of 6.49 lbs. caught by Rodney Bage.  When the dust settled after the opening weigh-in the Chumps were in second place over all right behind Lake Granbury Workingmen Bass Club who was fishing on their home lake. A brief strategy session followed the weigh-in and the anglers hit the water for the second round.  The NCAA Bass Fishing Team from Tarleton State University made a hard charge during the second round and even though the Chumps had a hard time establishing a pattern, they were once again in second place after the weigh-in. 

During the final round, some last minute heroics allowed all three boats to bring in two solid fish which proved to be enough to finish in second place behind Lake Granbury Workingmen Bass Club who took advantage of their local knowledge of the lake.

The Bass Chumps are currently setting their schedule for the 2010 season.  It will be posted on the homepage and the forum as soon as it is finalized.  Anyone interested in joining should call one of the officers or join a thread on the forum.
